A Birthday Well Spent

Today my baby boy turned 3! Since Cade's birthday falls on a long weekend (which means everyone is out-of-town) we decided to postpone his birthday party until next weekend. So today we decided to do something fun as a family to help celebrate Cade's birthday. This morning we packed up and headed to Butterfield Acres in north Calgary. The kids - especially Cade - loved it. Butterfield Acres is full of animals, tractors, parks and open space to run - a three year olds dream!

Cade showing Remy the goats when we first arrived. He was so protective of her and spoke to her so sweet. He can be the best big brother.

Cade and Remy rolling in style. Remy loved this wagon. Cade loved pulling Remy in the wagon. Overall, it was a big hit!

Remy was a little hesitant at first but after a minute she was all for riding the pony.

Cade was so excited to ride the pony. He stood quietly in line, waited his turn and smiled the whole way around the ring (doesn't he look so big in this picture)!

The horsey-swing was also a big hit with Cade. As soon as he got on he threw his hand up in the air and yelled, "yee-haw". Adorable.

Remy also took a turn. She loved it as well!

Sitting in the trailer waiting for the tractor ride to begin. The tractor that pulled us around was called "old blue" and it was - old and blue!

Remy was excited to touch and pet all the animals. Cade was more reserved and stayed back a little.

Checking out the little white chickens.

Checking out the big horses.

Petting the calf. He was so cute and Cade actually wanted to pet this little guy.

Exploring one of the many barns on the farm.

Remy was hysterical in the bunny barn. She LOVED the bunnies. She chased them around yelling "there it is". She wanted to pet them and hug them and touch them. She was giggling so hard. It was pretty cute.

There is "old blue" in the background. Cade loved it.

Remy kicking back in the hammock. It was a long day.

To finish off the day we headed over to Peter's Drive-In. Brian ordered an Oreo Milkshake and Cade drank pretty much the entire thing. If it wasn't Cade's birthday he would have probably been in big trouble - Brian hates to share his food, haha. Cade loved it and was happy as can be in the backseat.

Next Saturday we are going to celebrate Cade's birthday with family. We plan on opening presents, eating cake and hopefully catching a movie. It should be a great birthday - more pictures to come, I'm sure!

I can't believe he is three! I remember when he was just born and had the old man hair mullet. What a fun day you all had. Remy is so cute with her little pony tails.
